Memory Supplement Ingredients: What Trials Show and What They Do Not
Memory supplement ingredients are the vitamins, herbs, fibers and plant compounds sold for memory. Health agencies find mixed or limited evidence for the common ones, including ginkgo, omega-3, B vitamins and curcumin. An ingredient name is only a starting point. The amount, the form and the trial design matter more.

Common names01
What are the most common memory supplement ingredients?
The most common memory supplement ingredients are ginkgo, omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins and curcumin. The NCCIH has reviewed each of them (NCCIH, Supplements for cognition).
| Ingredient | NCCIH summary |
|---|---|
| Ginkgo | No conclusive evidence |
| Omega-3 | Most consistent in food, not as supplements |
| B vitamins | Results are mixed |
| Curcumin | Evidence too limited |
That page names none of the four ingredients on the Mindcept sales page.
Reading a list02
How do you read memory supplement ingredients on a label?
Read the Supplement Facts panel first. It lists each ingredient, its amount and the serving size. A name alone tells you very little.
Then check the "other ingredients" line. A "proprietary blend" needs to show only one total weight for the whole group (21 CFR 101.36, Proprietary blends).
Finally, match the amount to a trial. A study says nothing about a product with a different amount, and the FTC says the evidence must match the marketed product (FTC, Health Products Guidance).
Mindcept03
Which memory supplement ingredients does Mindcept name?
Mindcept names four: baobab fiber, L-arabinose, spermidine and konjac glucomannan. The sales page gives no amounts, and only spermidine has a memory trial.
- Memory trial: Yes, one
Spermidine
- Studies measured
- Memory test after 12 months (100 adults with memory worries)
- What they found
- No change in the main memory test; small hints on verbal memory and inflammation that the authors say need testing again (Schwarz 2022, Spermidine in older adults (RCT))
- Memory trial: None found
Konjac glucomannan
- Studies measured
- Body weight (8 trials), blood sugar and lipids (11 trials)
- What they found
- No significant weight loss versus placebo; the blood sugar drop was not robust (Onakpoya 2014, Glucomannan and weight (meta-analysis)) (Jazinaki 2026, Glucomannan and cardiometabolic markers)
- Memory trial: None found
L-arabinose
- Studies measured
- Blood sugar and insulin after a sucrose drink
- What they found
- Lower, later glucose peak after a sugar drink; no change when added to mixed meals (Pasmans 2022, L-arabinose with sucrose (RCT)) (Halschou-Jensen 2015, L-arabinose in mixed meals)
- Memory trial: None found
Baobab fiber
- Studies measured
- Hunger after one smoothie; glucose response in healthy adults
- What they found
- Lower hunger ratings after one smoothie; calorie intake at the next meal did not differ (Garvey 2017, Baobab and hunger) (Pfukwa 2026, Baobab fruit pulp (review))
Each card is about the single ingredient, not about Mindcept. No source found tests Mindcept itself, and the sales page prints no amounts to compare.
The other three were studied for hunger, blood sugar after a sugar drink or weight, not memory. See the ingredients page.
The one memory trial04
What did the spermidine memory trial find?
The spermidine trial found no change in its primary memory result. It lasted 12 months in 100 adults aged 60 to 90, using 0.9 mg a day from a wheat germ extract (Schwarz 2022, Spermidine in older adults (RCT)).
A food survey of 2,674 older adults linked higher intake with better test scores (Ma 2025, Dietary spermidine and cognition (NHANES)). That is an association only.
Ask a doctor or pharmacist before adding any supplement, and keep taking prescribed medicine.
FAQ05
Mindcept questions people ask
Which memory supplement ingredients have the best evidence?
None has strong proof. The NCCIH says there is no direct evidence that supplements prevent dementia, and omega-3 looks best in food (NCCIH, Supplements for cognition).
Are natural memory supplement ingredients safer?
Not by default. Natural describes the source, not safety. Ask a pharmacist about every ingredient (NCCIH, Using Supplements Wisely).
What is a proprietary blend?
It is a group of ingredients under one name with a single total weight (21 CFR 101.36, Proprietary blends). You cannot tell each amount from that line.
Does spermidine help memory?
One 12-month trial found no change in its main memory result (Schwarz 2022, Spermidine in older adults (RCT)). No source shows that spermidine helps memory.
Where are the Mindcept ingredient amounts?
