Spermidine in Mindcept: One Memory Trial and Its Result
Mindcept spermidine is one of four ingredient names on the seller's sales page, with no amount printed. Spermidine is the only one of the four with a memory trial. That 12-month study of 100 adults found no change in its main memory result. Mindcept itself has not been tested.

The ingredient01
What is spermidine?
Spermidine is a natural polyamine, a small molecule found in the body and in foods such as wheat germ. Food surveys find it in many plant foods.
One survey of 2,674 US adults aged 60 and older linked higher spermidine intake from food with better scores on four thinking tests (Ma 2025, Dietary spermidine and cognition (NHANES)). That is an association. People who eat more of these foods may differ in many other ways, and the survey says nothing about a spermidine capsule.
The sales page names spermidine with no amount. The supplied bottle pictures name no ingredient.
The trial02
What did the spermidine memory trial find?
The memory trial found no change in its main result. It ran for 12 months in 100 adults aged 60 to 90 who reported subjective cognitive decline (Schwarz 2022, Spermidine in older adults (RCT)).
Half took a wheat germ extract giving 0.9 mg of spermidine a day. The rest took a placebo. The primary memory outcome did not differ between groups, and neither did the secondary outcomes. Some exploratory hints on verbal memory and inflammation appeared, and the authors say those need confirming at a higher dose.
| Detail | SmartAge trial |
|---|---|
| Length | 12 months |
| People | 100 adults, aged 60 to 90 |
| Daily amount | 0.9 mg, from wheat germ extract |
| Main memory result | No change versus placebo |
| Side effects | Balanced between groups |
Fit03
Does the spermidine trial apply to Mindcept?
The trial does not apply directly to Mindcept. Mindcept prints no spermidine amount, so there is no figure to set beside 0.9 mg.
The trial also tested a different product. And its main finding was a null one. Read together, the evidence gives a supplement label no support for the word "Memory*". The FTC says a health claim generally needs human trials of the same product (FTC, Health Products Guidance).
Compare the label words with the evidence below.
- Memory trial: Yes, one
Spermidine
- Studies measured
- Memory test after 12 months (100 adults with memory worries)
- What they found
- No change in the main memory test; small hints on verbal memory and inflammation that the authors say need testing again (Schwarz 2022, Spermidine in older adults (RCT))
- Memory trial: None found
Konjac glucomannan
- Studies measured
- Body weight (8 trials), blood sugar and lipids (11 trials)
- What they found
- No significant weight loss versus placebo; the blood sugar drop was not robust (Onakpoya 2014, Glucomannan and weight (meta-analysis)) (Jazinaki 2026, Glucomannan and cardiometabolic markers)
- Memory trial: None found
L-arabinose
- Studies measured
- Blood sugar and insulin after a sucrose drink
- What they found
- Lower, later glucose peak after a sugar drink; no change when added to mixed meals (Pasmans 2022, L-arabinose with sucrose (RCT)) (Halschou-Jensen 2015, L-arabinose in mixed meals)
- Memory trial: None found
Baobab fiber
- Studies measured
- Hunger after one smoothie; glucose response in healthy adults
- What they found
- Lower hunger ratings after one smoothie; calorie intake at the next meal did not differ (Garvey 2017, Baobab and hunger) (Pfukwa 2026, Baobab fruit pulp (review))
Each card is about the single ingredient, not about Mindcept. No source found tests Mindcept itself, and the sales page prints no amounts to compare.
Safety04
Is spermidine safe to take?
Small trials found spermidine well tolerated at the amounts tested, but they were short and small. One trial in 30 adults used 1.2 mg a day for three months (Schwarz 2018, Spermidine safety (3-month RCT)). Another gave 40 mg a day to 37 men for 28 days (Keohane 2024, Spermidine 40 mg a day (28 days)).
Those tests looked at safety, not memory. They do not cover long use, pregnancy, or every medicine. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before adding any supplement, and keep taking prescribed medicine.
Memory changes that disrupt daily life deserve a doctor's visit. Sudden confusion or trouble speaking needs a 911 call. More detail is on the spermidine page and the ingredients overview.
FAQ05
Mindcept questions people ask
Is there spermidine in Mindcept?
The seller's sales page names Spermidine as one of four ingredients, with no amount. The supplied bottle pictures print no ingredient list, so the label itself does not confirm it.
What did the spermidine memory trial in older adults find?
The 12-month SmartAge trial found no change in its primary memory result (Schwarz 2022, Spermidine in older adults (RCT)). Hints on verbal memory were exploratory and need confirming, so no memory benefit can be claimed.
How much spermidine is in Mindcept?
Not printed. No amount appears on the supplied label images or in the sales-page text, so it cannot be compared with the 0.9 mg used in the trial.
What foods contain spermidine?
Wheat germ is a known source, and many plant foods carry some. A food survey linked higher intake with better test scores, but that is an association only (Ma 2025, Dietary spermidine and cognition (NHANES)).
Who should avoid spermidine supplements?
No one can answer that for you from a label. Ask a doctor or pharmacist if you take regular medicine, are pregnant, or have a health condition.
Was the spermidine trial paid for by a supplement maker?
Some authors reported equity or advisory roles with a supplement maker (Schwarz 2022, Spermidine in older adults (RCT)). That does not change the result, but it is worth knowing when you read the paper.
